Keep students learning with STEM at home

Our efforts to promote STEM learning have not stopped, even amid COVID-19 challenges.  As part of the “HKUST – ExxonMobil iSTEAM Program 2020”, we have supported engineering and science students from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) to produce a series of STEM@Home Experiment videos to promote active learning at home and engage students in exploring the fun of STEM learning during these challenging times.

There are four episodes featuring various simple experiments that can be conducted at home, including Neutralization of Acid and Alkaline, Transmission of Collision Force, Similar Compatible Theory, and pH Value of Substances. Please feel free to share with your kids and friends.

More STEM programs are in the pipeline. The annual EMHK-supported Smart Car Workshop for secondary students is scheduled for late Oct. This year, the workshop will become a hybrid event, consisting of online coding class, smart car programming workshop and mini smart car competition hosted by HKUST professor and student helpers. Besides, with support of EMHK, HKUST is also working on three educational videos about automobile engineering for sharing on social media channels later this year. Stay tuned!
