Opening the door to STEM education for students in need

While STEM education has become increasingly important, some students may lack opportunities to explore its appeal due to family circumstances. With support of ExxonMobil Hong Kong, St. James’ Settlement recruited some experienced tutors to hold STEM experiential workshops for 70 students in need to develop their own products with application of programming tools such as micro:bit. “The workshops could nurture students’ interest in STEM and construct the foundation of related knowledge and skills for their future,” school teachers reflected.

Our Hong Kong Retail Sales Territory Manager Nathan Fung was invited to share some vehicle-related knowledge with the students to kick-start one of the STEM workshops on May 15. The participating students treasured these precious learning opportunities a lot, actively raising and answering questions. We believe engaging students in STEM activities enables them to develop their own potential in science and technology fields and build a better future for themselves as well as the society.
