Preparing students for ethical challenges in the changing business world

We at ExxonMobil uphold high ethical standards at the workplace and actively promote this core value to the young generation. With the support of ExxonMobil Hong Kong (EMHK), Junior Achievement Hong Kong (JAHK) organized a Business Ethics workshop on March 16 at the City University of Hong Kong (CityU), where EMHK volunteer speaker Shek Wai Ming, Business Manager, Asia Pacific North Environmental Solutions discussed ethical challenges at the employee, organizational and multinational level and guide students to practice ethical decision-making through case studies and discussions.

“As an employee or a corporation, it is important to recognize the ethics required in a workplace and the ethical responsibilities to stockholders, stakeholders and society. We hope students can learn to recognize potential ethical challenges in different situations and apply ethical decision-making and critical thinking to make the appropriate choices for future career success,” said Shek Wai Ming.

EMHK has been the sole sponsor of JAHK’s Business Ethics Program since it launched in 2005 to help young people expand their exposure to ethical decision-making and develop ethical values. Due to the pandemic, the workshops were turned online in the past three years and resumed in a hybrid format this year, with CityU students joining in person while students from other universities joined online.
