Cleaning mudflat to build a litter-free natural environment

40 members of the ExxonMobil Hong Kong (EMHK) volunteer team spent a meaningful afternoon at Ha Pak Nai on November 18 in a mudflat cleanup activity hosted by A Plastic Ocean Foundation (APO) under the #OneTonneLess initiative. After several hours of effort, 43kg of waste including abandoned fishing gear nets, polystyrene boards, and plastic pieces were collected.
Ha Pak Nai, with the mangrove beach, mudflats and wetland, provides habitats for various species, is well known for its rich biodiversity. “Cleaning the polluted area helps to save the micro-biosystem and prevent microplastics from entering the food chain. To preserve the marine life for our next generation to enjoy, it is our responsibility to protect the natural environment.” said Mabel Leung, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Retail Fuels Sales & Marketing Director, who led the volunteer activity for the day.
The EMHK volunteer team has joined hands with APO for a number of environmental protection campaigns over the years. We are glad to play our part in protecting the planet we live in.
